I’ve written more than 50 books for children, about everything from art to outer space – and I’m always full of ideas for more! I specialise in writing fun, thoughtful books with a creative twist and I love making big ideas feel exciting and easy to understand for kids of all ages.

My books have been shortlisted for the UKLA Awards, longlisted for the Blue Peter Book Awards and positively reviewed by the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BookTrust, Nat Geo Kids and more.

You can see my latest titles here, and a wider selection of the books I’ve written and edited here. I’ve also written for a wide range of digital projects and online resources, including scripting a popular Tate Kids video – ‘How Paul Cézanne changed art‘ – to accompany a major 2022 Cézanne exhibition.

Without doubt, it is a very good thing that there are bright lights out there like Alice Harman, the book’s inventive writer.

Matched with rock-solid research skills, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the ability to visualise the end book, Alice is the ultimate children’s author and editor.

Alice is an extremely experienced, creative and versatile author and editor. She brings a strong awareness of current cultural issues to her writing and idea development work. I would recommend her for any project.
