I love doing author visits! It’s one of the best bits about being a children’s author, and I love getting children excited about reading, writing and all sorts of fun non-fiction subjects – from art and wellbeing to climate action.

My visits are full of amazing facts, inspiring stories, fun activities, and behind-the-scenes insights into what life as a children’s author is really like. It’s incredible to hear from teachers and librarians how my visits have inspired children to read and write more – and to want to become authors themselves!

I offer virtual and in-person visits for all children of primary-school age, from Reception to Year 6, and for children in Years 7 and 8 at secondary school. I also offer non-fiction writing workshops for young people and adults – please get in touch to discuss your needs. For festival appearances and any other events, please contact me directly.

Virtual author visits

Are you looking for a virtual author visit? Wonderful! I offer three packages, which you can contact me to book:

  • 30-minute Meet the Author Q&A – £50
  • 1-hour virtual author visit (intro, reading, activities + Q&A session) – £100
  • Half-day virtual author visit (3 x 1-hour sessions over a morning or afternoon) – £250

Each package also includes downloadable resources to maximise the visit’s impact for children, and to make hosting the event as simple (and fun!) as possible. I can also send over signed bookplates to put in copies of my books that are purchased for the event.

I’m more than happy to run sessions for parents/carers, too, or to discuss any other particular needs you may have. I love working with international schools, too, and I’ll be as flexible as possible to make any time differences work!

Please get in touch to learn more, and to book directly with me. I really look forward to speaking with you.

In-person author visits

Do you want an in-person author visit? Fantastic! I offer a full-day visit as standard, with half-day visits available only in my local area (near Derby, UK).

  • Full-day in-person author visit – £400
  • Half-day in-person author visit – £250 (for the Derby area only)

I do ask for my travel expenses to be covered on top of this basic cost. If I have to travel over 90 minutes by car to reach you, I will also need an overnight stay. If you are running a multi-day event, I give a £100 discount on a two-day visit.

Book signings are included for all in-person visits – it’s a great way to engage children and make their book feel really special! Each visit package also includes downloadable resources to maximise the visit’s impact for children, and to make hosting the event as simple (and fun!) as possible.

Please get in touch to learn more, and to book directly with me. Please include details of the visit location so that I can give an estimate of travel expenses. I really look forward to speaking with you.

Testimonials

Here are a few of the lovely things that teachers, librarians and – importantly! – children have said about my author visits. I love building strong relationships with schools, libraries and local authorities, and it’s so wonderful to hear about the impact that my visits have had.

Thank you Alice for the excellent sessions you delivered to our schools, the children have been very fortunate. Alice engaged well with the children, using interactive elements to clearly explaining growth mindset and how they could apply it to everyday life. This was a key objective in our programme to facilitate the pupils’ transition to secondary school. We would highly recommend Alice.

Jemima Kelly, Partnership and Community Librarian, North Lincolnshire Council

I really enjoyed working with Alice, as she inspired me to develop my love of writing! I think her books are so unique and amazing. The way she got the message across was brilliant.

Charlotte, age 9

We have been incredibly lucky to work with Alice, and her involvement with our pupils has created so many amazing memories … she has gone above and beyond in engaging with and inspiring our pupils! Alice has really motivated our children to find enjoyment in key issues around how non-fiction can open up our minds.

Paul Matthews, Deputy Head and Reading Lead, Crescent Primary School

Alice was really thoughtful when we had our virtual meeting for World Book Day. It inspired me to keep trying with my English and keep pushing myself.

Leona, age 10

Working with Alice really inspired me to keep on reading and writing. I love her books as they are so unique and special. Keep up the good work Alice!
